MARALOVE: A LOVE LETTER TO FEMININE ART
On this cover, Mariel captures “Silent Stories”:
An intimate collection that explores the body as a refuge and color as emotion. Soft strokes, pastel palettes, and feminine figures that not only appear — they reveal themselves. Each piece is a visual whisper, a pause to look inward. Creating this series was a return to calm, to the origin, to what needs no explanation.
Mariel Méndez, known as MARALOVE, has gained recognition for her distinctive work, where she fuses visual storytelling, creative direction, and fashion aesthetics. From a young age, Mariel embarked on an artistic path, creating scenes and characters that she brought to life through drawing and painting.
Growing up between Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, her childhood was marked by a deep yearning for exploration and adventure. This cultural duality fueled a spontaneous and cathartic artistic practice, reflected in an expressive and fluid style, guided more by emotion than technique.
After graduating as a Montessori Guide, she experienced a transformative phase as a teacher before fully dedicating herself to independent art. As her work evolved, it began to increasingly focus on mood, emotional memory, and introspection.
In her compositions, outfits and accessories — designed by her or inspired by everyday life — serve as a bridge between art and fashion. By “dressing” her characters, Mariel not only creates visual identities, but also builds narratives, explores trends, and reflects on personal appearance as a cultural language.
Her creative process is rooted in freedom, improvisation, and wonder. The result is visually harmonious works that invite viewers to look beyond the obvious and immerse themselves in intimate layers of story and emotion.
