WANDERING ALCHEMY: MARCEL CASTELLANO’S VISION AT HIS FIRST NYFW
With an approach that blurs the boundaries between fashion and art, Marcel Castellano presented Wandering Alchemy in New York. A debut that offers new ways to experience the runway.
New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Spring/Summer 2026 became the stage for the official debut of Marcel Castellano with his collection Wandering Alchemy, presented on Saturday, September 13. Rather than a conventional runway show, the event was conceived as an experience that integrated fashion, film, and art, positioning Castellano as one of the new creative voices to watch in the industry.
The presentation unfolded in an audiovisual format, with the garments serving as the centerpiece of a visual narrative. The collection employed materials and silhouettes that diverged from traditional design. For example, leather was crafted into pieces with defined structures reminiscent of armor, while glossy finishes were used to create effects that evoked constellations. The sculptural silhouettes of the garments were designed to generate movement, giving the collection an unconventional sense of fluidity.
Castellano’s vision centered on the idea that fashion can stand as a form of artistic expression in its own right. Each piece in the collection was created with the intention of functioning as a visual statement, blurring the boundaries between fashion design and other disciplines such as sculpture and cinematography. The collection was presented not merely as a series of garments, but as a set of visual declarations aimed at redefining the traditional perception of clothing.
The project was the result of a large-scale collaboration that reflected an inclusive vision. The casting drew more than 400 talents, from which 17 models were selected to embody the essence of the collection. Makeup and hair were directed by Rosario Mannella, while styling was led by Juan Peralta (Segundo Solar). Cinematic direction was overseen by Emeline Lotherington, who helped shape the event as a visual experience. In addition, a jewelry collaboration with artist Adriano Russell complemented the collection’s concept.
With this debut, Marcel Castellano has demonstrated an approach to design that prioritizes art and experience, marking his entry into NYFW as a designer committed to immersive and creative formats.
